Skilling forms an integral part of the livelihoods portfolio of Tata Trusts. The focus is on strengthening the skilling ecosystem by bridging existing gaps. To bring about the most effective interventions and synergy in the area of skill development and entrepreneurship promotion, Tata Trusts focusses on sectors and regions that need attention to improve value chains.
Interventions in skill building have several stages — from mobilisation, training and certification to linking the trainee to employment and post-employment tracking. Tata Trusts works with state governments, training partners, Tata group companies and other corporations in the skilling and entrepreneurship development of underprivileged and unemployed youth, both in rural and urban spaces. The focus is on skilling youth in the 18-35 age group, up-skilling of youth with sufficient work experience and re-skilling.
