The Individual Grants Programme (Education) offers financial assistance schemes catering to varied needs of individuals. All schemes are open to resident Indians only

Means grant

Based on need, this scheme offers partial assistance to college- and school-going students towards their fees. Applicants must submit proof that the fees have been paid.

Eligibility criteria

  • Students studying in colleges / schools located within Mumbai / Mumbai suburban areas are eligible to apply — from standard VIII till graduation (except engineering).
  • Student should have secured at least a pass class in their previous examination (ATKT students are not eligible to apply).
  • Maximum of two children from the same family can apply.

Travel grant

The scheme provides partial travel assistance to professionals and other employed people to enhance their professional or work-related skills through relevant training programmes, workshops or observerships (for those in the field of medicine) — domestic and overseas (except attending / presenting a paper in conferences). Applications will be accepted one month prior to the date of travel.

The scheme provides academic scholarships and vocational scholarships based on merit in selected streams, which are reviewed every year.

Academic scholarship

The programme, covering both bachelor’s and master’s degree courses, will open during the last week of October of each year. Students are eligible to apply after completion of first year of the degree course in the bachelor’s category and from first year in the case of master’s course. The programme stands closed for the year 2017-2018.

Vocational scholarship

The programme, covering both diploma and bachelor’s degree courses, will open during the first week of July each year.
Students are eligible to apply after passing either 10th or 12th standard. The programme stands closed for the year 2017-2018.

Research fellowship

The research fellowship is offered in four areas — autism, dyslexia, public health and pancreatic cancer. Applications will be invited every year through an advertisement. The programme stands closed for the year 2017-2018.

Civil aviation

Students undertaking a career in flying (commercial pilot license and type rating) are eligible to apply. The programme stands closed for the year 2017-2018.

Other scholarships

The scheme covers scholarships in sports and music and addresses a wide range of needs. The scheme covers Indian music and the following sports: athletics, gymnastics, weightlifting, rifle shooting, pistol shooting, shotgun shooting, swimming, archery, aerobics, chess and para sports. The programme stands closed for the year 2017-18.
